OJPC’s 2023 Annual Event:

50 through 50

OJPC’s 2023 Annual Event “50 through 50: 50 years of mass incarceration told through 50 years of hip-hop” sought to celebrate the milestone of hip-hop music while recognizing the conditions of unparalleled mass incarceration in the United States. Moderated by Julia Beverly, the panel featured Chuck D, Wendy Day, and Serena Nunn who spoke candidly about the rise of incarceration numbers that increased significantly starting in the 1970s and what that has lead to today. This timely discussion highlighted the importance of voting, understanding history, and encouraged support of OJPC’s work.

The event was an intimate experience enjoyed by 250 guests and featured music by DJ Vader in the Rotunda of Cincinnati Museum Center as well as opportunities to mingle with OJPC staff, clients, and Board Members. It was an honor to have our new Chief Executive Officer, Gabe Davis, speak about his role, passion, and vision for the future of OJPC. We are grateful to all attendees, sponsors, and supporters.
