Bobbie Hall was a Black veteran lynched by a white sheriff and several deputies in Newton Georgia in 1943. His killer’s conviction was reversed by the U.S. Supreme
Court, and that decision (Screws v. U.S.) continues to block police prosecutions today, 86 years later. This film will employ archival material, interviews of family members and prosecutors, animation, and original music to effectively, accessibly, and emotionally tell the Bobbie Hall story and show how the Screws decision blocks police accountability. The film will also explain the reform measures and action steps that are available today. OJPC CEO Gabe Davis is a former federal prosecutor who saw first- hand how the Screws decision interfered with justice. OJPC is proud to host this project.
